‘DOWRY’…A word not girl would ever like to listen; A word that brings about the biggest burden of the life of a parent; A word I hate the most and though our government have imposed many laws and orders regarding the abolishment of dowry in every state, is the chapter over? Don’t you read the daily cases of suicide and murders with the back story of Dowry.
Well, here I bring to you a story which you’re gonna remember lifelong. Here I present to you a video about a young innocent lady from a middle-class family who was asked for a diamond set, a pressure cooker, a car and 50,000 rupees in cash as dowry. What happened next is an obvious story for every Indian but would definitely leave everyone in a deep shock!

No, I am not shocked, instead deeply saddened with the state of affairs….and no, it’s not the Government who has to do anything now, it’s us people who have to move and make efforts to change things.
Such things and cases are so common in our Indian society, the newspaper are full of such news, aren’t they? Yet with so much of awareness, nothing seems to change – dowry – the person who gives and takes, both need to be punished, and it’s the girl too who has to be strong and fight her way out. How? She has the power to complain to the authorities, as this girl could have when her husband started harassing her, which she didn’t do, and eventually lost her life. There is a law now, just in case you didn’t know, that a girl or her parents can lodge a complain against the husband and his family for any kind of harassment.
More so, where are the real men? Shouldn’t they stand for their wives? If there is love, such things never occur, isn’t it?
