Delhi Metro has finally made an official announcement saying that they’ll be providing WiFi for all its passengers. India’s biggest Urban Transport network have invited Mobile Operators living in Delhi to put a hand over this new venture.
Currently, Metro Rail running in Gurgaon are providing Wi-Fi connectivity to of their major Metro stations, however, it isn’t under Delhi Metro System. The reports state that Delhi Metro’s project will be more big, spreading across 140 stations.
A Delhi Metro official said, “This was a long standing demand of the commuters. We have asked mobile operators to submit their proposals and will check feasibility and other parameters after that,”
Over 25 lakh Delhities use Metro on regular basis for their day-to-day work and majority of the audience have smartphones. Recently, the Delhi metro announced an offer where Android users will achieve free credits on downloading apps via Offer World platform, and this is, no doubt the reason they’ve decided to give more important to Internet and smartphone users.
Passengers will get Wi-Fi connection only for 30 minutes of their metro journey. They will also enforce an advertisement which will run for 30 seconds, before starting the free 30 minutes WiFi.
In coming days, we will get the answers to clear the doubts between Delhi Metro’s WiFi and Delhi Government’s WiFi promises and the expected day for it’s complete rollout is to be the year’s end.
